The Spring Clean Up To-Do's

There may be snow still on the ground but "spring" is here! Take these 10 tips on how to get ready for your spring clean up and maybe avoid looking out at the snow while doing so.

Warmer days are ahead friends!

  1. Make a plan: Before you start cleaning, make a list of all the tasks you want to accomplish. This will help you stay focused and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  2. Gather your supplies: Make sure you have all the necessary cleaning supplies before you start. This may include cleaning solutions, sponges, gloves, and garbage bags.

  3. Start with decluttering: Get rid of anything you no longer need or use. Sort items into piles for donation, recycling, or trash.

  4. Work room by room: Tackle one room at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Start with the most cluttered or dirty room first.

  5. Dust from top to bottom: Start at the top of the room and work your way down. This will prevent dust and dirt from falling onto surfaces you've already cleaned.

  6. Don't forget the walls and ceilings: Use a damp cloth to wipe down walls, ceilings, and baseboards. This will remove dust and cobwebs.

  7. Clean the floors: Vacuum or sweep the floors, then mop or steam clean them. Be sure to pay attention to high-traffic areas.

  8. Wash bedding and linens: Wash all bedding, including pillows, comforters, and mattress covers. Don't forget to wash curtains and other linens as well.

  9. Clean appliances: Clean the inside and outside of appliances, including the refrigerator, oven, and microwave. Don't forget to clean the dishwasher and washing machine as well.

  10. Finish with a fresh scent: Once you've finished cleaning, add a fresh scent to your home by lighting candles, using essential oils, or opening windows to let in fresh air.
